Real Hands On

Results Alone Change Nothing. Action and Follow-up Do.

Real Hands-On runs the part of the engagement programme that most organisations underinvest in: executive debriefs, manager workshops and the follow-up routine. Corpmetrix® Action Hub® supports follow-through by keeping actions owned, dated and visible.

One loop, three stages

We treat the survey as the first step of a management routine. The loop only works if the second and third stages are planned with the same care as the first.

  1. 1. Survey

Listen with a clear purpose. Action planning is designed before launch, including who will receive results and what decisions they must take.

  2. 2. Act

Debrief leaders, run manager workshops and agree a short list of priorities, each with a named owner, a date and a measure of success.

  3. 3. Follow-up

Track progress in Action Hub®, review at leadership level and re-measure so employees can see whether things changed.

What happens in the Act stage

  • Executive debrief: what the data says, what it does not say, and what leadership will personally own.
  • Manager workshop: read the team results, separate strengths from risks, and choose a small number of actions.
  • Team conversation: managers take the findings back to teams, test their reading and co-design the actions.
  • Cross-functional issues: themes that no single manager can solve are routed to a named executive sponsor.

Action Hub®

Follow-through, not just a dashboard

Most survey tools stop at the results screen. Action Hub®, Corpmetrix® technology that we use within our programmes, picks up where the dashboard ends: it keeps the agreed actions assigned, dated and visible to the people who need to see them.

Owned actions

Each action is assigned, dated and linked to the engagement driver it responds to.

Visibility up the line

Senior leaders see where actions are progressing and where they are stalled, without chasing slides.

A rhythm for review

Progress becomes a standing item in management meetings instead of a once-a-year recap.

Evidence for the next cycle

What was done, and what employees later felt, can be compared in the follow-up measurement.

The tool records and tracks. The consulting work of sponsorship, manager preparation and review discipline is what makes the actions happen.

Why survey actions usually stall

  • Too many priorities

Twenty actions per team means none get done. We push for two or three that matter.

  • No owner

"HR will handle it" is not an owner. Every action needs a named person with authority to act.

  • Managers left alone with a report

Reading a results pack is not the same as knowing what to do. Workshops give managers structure and peer support.

  • Silence after the survey

If employees hear nothing, participation drops next cycle. Visible feedback is part of the plan.

Frequently asked questions

What is employee engagement action planning?
It is the structured process of turning survey findings into a small number of owned, dated actions at leadership, function and team level, then following them through and re-measuring. It sits between the survey and the next measurement cycle.
Is Action Hub® just a dashboard?
No. A dashboard shows results. Action Hub® is used to record, assign and follow up actions that come out of the results. It supports follow-through, but the programme still needs leaders who sponsor change and managers who act. Action Hub® is Corpmetrix® technology, which Real Hands-On uses as part of its consulting programmes.
When should action planning start?
Before the survey launches. Deciding who will receive results, how managers will be prepared and how actions will be tracked up front makes the post-survey period far smoother. Executive debriefs and manager workshops are scheduled in advance.
How many actions should a team commit to?
Fewer than most expect. We usually recommend two or three priorities per team that are specific enough to be completed and visible to employees. The right number depends on team size and capacity, and is agreed in the workshop.
Can you support action planning if the survey was run by someone else?
In many cases, yes. Workshops and follow-up routines can be built around existing results. We would review what you have, then advise what is realistic, including whether the data supports the decisions you want to take.
